In 2005, Fortis started building a single cross-border platform for processing high-volume SEPA payments in a fast, cost-efficient and reliable way from January 2008.

Beside its future 'SEPA payment engine', Fortis already operates a state-of-the-art cross-border platform for processing urgent and/or high-value and/or international payments.

In the third quarter of 2007, Fortis will take part in a pilot SEPA direct debit scheme. We will also be participating, along with a small number of major banks, in early testing of new SEPA products with the support of SWIFT.
